Closure Information
Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery opened its doors to the public for the final time this year on Monday 31st October 2011.
On Tuesday 1st November, Museum staff started to dismantle displays and offices in readiness for major roof works and the creation of a new first floor gallery.
The Senior Curator Nigel Blackamore has said:
‘At present we aim to reopen late 2012, however, should we be successful with our second round bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Museum will remain closed for complete restoration and redisplay and will therefore not re-open until 2015.
During the period of closure, restricted access to the collections will mean that we can only provide a limited public enquiry service, accessible via the Museum phone line or the internet / email system. We will do our best to maintain our standards, but please be patient.
Our Education Service to schools will continue to be available on an outreach basis only;
We also hope to maintain our involvement within the local community by working in partnership with other organisations, such as Brecon Library and Theatr Brycheiniog’.
