Henry Vaughan (1621 - 1695) is widely known in the literary world as one of the so-called ‘metaphysical’ poets. His poetry combines insight into mankind and the natural world with deep spiritual expression. He lived most of his life near Llansantffraed, Breconshire and is buried in the churchyard there.
The Society’s interests in Henry Vaughan relate principally to his heritage at Llansantffraed and his association with Breconshire. With the Vaughan Association, we have commissioned a recently published book on his life and work - Henry Vaughan and the Usk Valley.
